What is Google EDLA?

What is Google EDLA?

The Android EDLA (Enterprise Device License Agreement), administered by Google, allows tech providers (like InFocus) to offer technology solutions with built-in Google Mobile Services or GMS.  Google Mobile Services includes all of Google’s most popular apps and APIs bundled together and packaged for Android devices. It includes Google Search, Google Drive, Chrome, YouTube, and the Google Play Store, among other apps. The EDLA license agreement is for specific types of products, including large-format interactive touch displays (JTouch).

Unlike uncertified displays, EDLA provides secure access to Android apps and the Google Play Store. It also integrates with Google and Microsoft Office 365 apps and tools. Ultimately, this enhances student-teacher engagement by allowing the use of a variety of visuals, content, activities, and interactive elements.

What EDLA-Certified Displays Offer

Access to educational apps and content: Google EDLA provides access to a wide range of educational apps and content from the Google Play Store.

Enhanced security and management: Google EDLA ensures that interactive displays come with robust security features and centralised management capabilities. You also get secure, certified access to apps from the Google Play Store, plus the ability to block or hide apps.

Google Play Protect: Security starts at the application layer with Google Play Protect’s built-in malware defence. Backed by Google’s machine learning, it’s always adapting and improving. Every day, Google Play Protect automatically scans all the apps on Android devices and works to prevent the installation of harmful apps, making it the world’s most widely deployed threat protection service.

On-device protection: Google Play Protect includes on-device capabilities that help keep devices and data safe. These on-device services integrate with cloud-based components that allow updates to be pushed that constantly improve their functionality.

Safe Browsing: is a Google service that checks URLs against Google’s constantly updated lists of unsafe web resources. Examples of unsafe web resources are social engineering sites (phishing and deceptive sites) and sites that host malware or unwanted software.
